"In the New Testament the first church was started by the apostles in Acts 2:37-47
Verse 44 "And all those who had believed were together, and had all things in common;"

Pioneers of Dolan Springs Baptist Church.

Christine was one of the original founders of the Dolan Springs Baptist Church.

The church had its beginning in the home of Christine, as well as her sister, Gertie and Gertie's husband Jim. As proof of the need for a Baptist Church in Dolan Springs, attendance soon grew so large it became necessary to find more room.

The building that is now the pizza parlor was rented and established as the Joshua Baptist Mission. This Mission some years later became the Dolan Springs Baptist Church we know today.

Christine continued working in the church as the preschool Sunday School and nursery teacher.      She also worked every year in Vacation Bible School beginning when it was held in her own yard before they had a church building.

This barely covers the surface of her contributions which are too numerous to list. Christine we want to recognize you for all you have contributed to the Dolan Springs Baptist Church.

Christine plants a seed that grows.

Christine and 2 other ladies were out driving around after a rain storm, visiting people. Christine's car got stuck in a sand bog on Gila Road.
It happened it was close to a house where a guy had a big truck and a log chain. He also had beer and a foul-mouth. He reluctantly set down his beer, got his truck and chain, and pulled Christine's car out of the sand. Christine thanked him and told him they were from the Joshua Baptist Mission-which-needless to say, did not impress him at that time-He thought. But the seed was planted. (Isn't it wonderful how our Lord has a way of getting things done His way?)

During a tent revival at Easter time, the Lord threw out the bait and the beer drinking man went to the revival, went forward at the alter call and accepted what was offered.

(You can imagine Christine's reaction - She told the Pastor not to ever go to that house because he was the meanest man she had ever met - You just never know, do you?)

That man was John and he joined the Joshua Baptist Mission in 1986

John and his wife, Scottie acquired the property where Dolan Springs Baptist Church now stands. It consisted of a small home. John worked every day to remodel the home so it could become a church. John, Elmer and Harold constructed and installed big beams so walls could be removed. John installed a new bathroom where the storage room is now. He dug a trench from the power pole to run electric out                    to the sign.

These are only a few of the things John (that mean old, foul-mouthed man) has done to help bring Dolan Springs Church to the place it is now. We want to recognize John's work and contribution to Dolan Springs Baptist Church.

We have mentioned John's wife, Scottie. In April 1987 The Lord filled John with a new life. John loves his wife and he wanted for her the same thing he had. He had called to tell her the good news of his having received God's saving grace.

But she has been married to a foul-mouthed drunk for 41 years. This man had promised more times than she could count to give up the booze. Can you blame her for being skeptical?

When she came home from her job in Las Vegas on Friday evening. He had
her dinner ready and waiting. He rushed her to hurry so they could go to the last night of the tent revival. They went that evening and then started attending Sunday services at the Joshua Baptist Mission. All during services his hand found it's way to her back to push during the invitation, but she wasn't ready.

In June 1987 she was finally convinced that John was indeed a changed man. During the Sunday morning invitation, Scottie accepted the promises of our Lord. Scottie and John were later baptized in Clyde and Patty's swimming pool on July 19, 1987.

John & Scottie were instrumental in acquiring the present church building. They both have contributed to the growth of what is now "Dolan Springs Baptist Church"

Present day Dolan Springs Baptist Church

So it started with Christine and a few others - Then to John - Then to Scottie - and on it continues - The growth of Dolan Springs Baptist Church - All praise and glory to our Almighty God who uses ordinary people to accomplish His work.
